Wedding Dress Preservation Guide

ABOUT THE CLIENT

Farthings Dry Cleaners are a small independent business located in the heart of Bury St Edmunds, providing full-service dry cleaning, repair and alteration services. As specialists in their field with over 20 years of experience, they pride themselves in their attention to detail and high-quality services.

BRIEF

A large part of their business is dedicated to the art of wedding dress dry cleaning and preservation. Having recently decided to participate in upcoming Wedding Fayres, they required marketing material to promote this service.

CONCEPT

Farthings Dry Cleaners were to market at upcoming Wedding Fayres. Knowing in that environment, they would be surrounded by exhibits from wedding photographers, wedding dress suppliers and stationers I wanted to ensure it was obvious from a far as to what they were promoting. Straying away from the obvious clean-cut ‘perfect’ bridal image you tend to see in this scenario, I suggested a more light-hearted approach “Because your wedding day is full of making memories; trudging through grass, those pesky drink spills and that almighty dance floor!” The imagery presented in this concept complimented this playful approach; a bride and groom on their wedding day, kicking of their shoes and making memories.

Ultimately in this situation and many others, when the big day arrives the bride is enjoying the special day, the aftermath of the dress is less important. Within this preservation guide, Farthings offered their advice and expertise in cleaning, preserving and long-term storage recommendations for your gown. Knowing ahead of time that there is a solution, the dress can be restored to as good as new offers piece of mind. Farthings will dry clean the gown (processing up to 8 times), to remove marks and stains then folded carefully with layers of PH neutral acid free tissue paper, before being placed in a presentation box. For the bride to cherish for years to come.
